Assam: ‘Ragging’ at Tezpur Medical College, Five medical students suspended

GUWAHATI, August 23: Five students of Tezpur Medical College who were accused in a case of ragging two fresher students, were suspended for six months from the college.

It was reported that on 20th August, the five accused physically assaulted two fresher students in the boys’ hostel. Following this both the victims lodged a complaint against the five accused in the police station.

The college authorities swung into action suspending the accused for six months. It may be stated that one of them has been suspended for six months whereas the other four have been suspended for 6 months from the hostel.

University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked universities across the country to install alarm bells in hostels to identify troublemakers as part of the anti-ragging measures.
